Class year: 2027

Major: Urban Studies and Planning (Course 11)

After studying French through middle and high school, I became interested in the history and languages of North and West Africa, and the overlap between French and Arabic. I learned how to read Arabic in high school, but only began learning in a formal classroom setting at MIT as a first-year during IAP. I travelled with MISTI Arab World to Jordan summer 2024 and my passion for studying the language was reinvigorated. It was fascinating to interact with the Levantine dialect and learn more about how the language is used informally, unlike the Classical Arabic I study at MIT.
